Cottages for your travel wish list this Spring

Not sure how, but Spring is only a few days away & it’s already bringing us joy. Sunny mornings, open windows, flowers blooming & the birdsong. Ahhh, how lovely.

There is something so idyllic about country cottages in Spring, don’t you think? We thought we had best round up our favourites to share with you!

Settler & Sons is a Californian bungalow style cottage in Victorias’ buzzing regional hub of Ballarat.

This two bedroom home has been a labour of love for owners Jack & Kirby Kaye. We are slightly obsessed with the pink kitchen, it has us thinking about our own lockdown DIY kitchen makeover….probs not a great idea?

You will have no trouble making yourself at home at Settlers, a perfect base to explore everything that Ballarat has to offer. Amazing cafes, restaurants, pubs & bars as well as beautiful Lake Wendouree and Botanic Gardens.

Bimlow Cottage is an adorable three bedroom stay half way between the Jenolan Caves & Oberon, under three hours drive from Sydney. Surrounded by rolling hills and flowing streams, we suggest packing for a few extra nights as you won’t want to leave! You can feel the love owner Georgie Stuart has put into Bimlow Cottage just by scrolling through the photos.

In spring visit one of the many beautiful gardens within driving distance, including Mayfield Garden and Hillandale Garden. Pack a picnic and go exploring in nearby Kanangra-Boyd National Park, or simply stay put at Bimlow and soak in its idyllic surrounds.

While you’re there, be sure to say Hi to resident chook Henrietta and her posse. If your lucky, they might provide fresh eggs for brekky!

Norwood Roses is a dreamy Queenslander cottage, as well as an award-winning rose garden in the heart of Toowoomba on QLD’s Darling Downs. Originally a corner store, the one bedroom cottage is now filled with natural light, home grown flowers, art, antiques, vintage furniture, and plenty of gardening books, how fitting!

Lovely owner Caitlin’s favourite thing to at Norwood is to sit on the back verandah with a freshly brewed cup of tea and listen to the birds, and then go exploring the breathtaking gardens and nurseries close by. Ummmm, yes please!
