The Property:

Nook On The Hill is a unique hand-crafted house located at the foothills of the beautiful Gariwerd/Grampians mountain ranges. Sleeping up to two adults, it’s just a 10 minute drive to Halls Gap. This gorgeous little house was designed and built by Benjamin Bailey-Webb using sustainable materials and building techniques.

Surrounded by a rewilded native Australian garden, the Nook is an experience built with passion, patience and love to deliver a truly one of a kind offering. Treat yourself to a weekend away; lay in bed each morning and marvel at the awe-inspiring view, wander through the native garden nursing a warm cuppa, escape with a book in the cosy reading nook, sit by the fire pit indulging in local cheeses and wine, then gaze into the glittering night sky as you soak in the outdoor tub.

After calling this wonderful little house "home", Benj and his partner Holly would now love to share it with the world.

About your local community:

The Nook is nestled on a two acre bush block at the foot of the world renowned Gariwerd National Park. Five minutes from Pomonal village and 10 minutes from Halls Gap township. The local area is filled with artisans of all kinds: delicious produce makers, wine makers and visual artists to name a few. Gariwerd is a hot spot of adventurous tourists but also for those who want to slow down, rest and take in nature.

Also known as “The Grampians” Gariwerd means 'Mountain range created by Bunjil' in the language of its traditional owners the Djab Wurrung and Jadawadjali people.

Gariwerd holds spiritual significance for Indigenous peoples because of the dreaming stories and plentiful resources provided by the landscape. This significance is reflected in the fact that Gariwerd contains 90% of Victoria’s known Indigenous rock art sites.

Today, countless walking trails and hikes snake through Gariwerd allowing you to feel that same connection to the landscape. Halls Gap is considered the gateway to Gariwerd National Park and is a short 10 minute drive from the Nook.

What is your favourite thing to do at this property:

Meandering through the native garden clutching a warm cup of tea and admiring all the beautiful flowers.

What is your favourite trip close by:

Exploring the many incredible hikes that Gariwerd has to offer, our favourite being the Mt Rosea hike, right in the heart of the National Park.

Guests should not forget to pack their….

Walking shoes. There are loads of amazing hikes and walks suitable for people of any fitness level.

How did you come to offer accommodation in the bush?

We wanted to create a special place for people to come and enjoy Gariwerd. A place they can rest, relax and rejuvenate. I have also written my story which you can read here. Best read with a warm cuppa.
