How did you come to offer accommodation in the bush?
Building our dream cabin in Merrijig was a journey that began with our shared passion for snowboarding - my husband and I spent years chasing the snow across Europe and Asia, our boards carving down some of the world’s most breathtaking slopes. Yet, it was in the heart of Victoria, with its beautiful rolling hills, vibrant wildlife, and proximity to Mount Buller, that we found Merrijig to be the perfect spot to create Roam. From the moment we set foot in Merrijig, we were captivated by the serene landscapes and the promise of adventure that lay just at our doorstep. The decision to build here was as natural as the surroundings we had come to love. We envisioned a place where rustic charm meets luxury, a haven for like-minded adventurers who appreciate the finer things in life after a day on the slopes or a hike through the hills. Roam was born out of this vision. Nestled at the foothills of Mt Buller, Roam blends seamlessly into the environment, offering a retreat that feels both timeless and contemporary. We designed it to be a thoughtful space where guests could unwind in comfort and luxury, whether soaking in the views from the deck or sharing stories by the fire. The wildlife in Merrijig adds another layer of magic to this place. Waking up to the chorus of native birds, spotting kangaroos and deer in the distance, and watching the landscape change with the seasons are daily reminders of how special this location is.
