About your local community:
Hartley Valley was formerly a judicial and administrative centre that had a busy courthouse. The courthouse was built in 1837 and was designed by prominent New South Wales Colonial Architect Mortimer Lewis. The courthouse, which operated for over fifty years, dealt with a constant stream of robbers, thieves and convicts. Historic Hartley Township has survived as a perfectly preserved village that is a superb example of 19th century architecture. Today the Valley is home to a array of farms hosting all sorts of industry from cattle to sheep to agriculture.
What is your favourite thing to do at this property:
Watch the sunset on the verandah after a day of gardening and hanging with the animals. We have 4 rescue horses, 2 fresian cows, 5 African goats and 6 chooks that lay beautiful eggs.
What is your favourite trip close by:
Either a visit to Jenolan Caves, a trip to Hampton for some downhill mountain biking, a rock climb at Mt Piddington or a day walk thru the Grand Canyon at Blackheath.
Guests should not forget to pack their… Books and sun hat.
How did you come to offer accommodation in the bush?
We bought a 25 acre property to rescue animals. We wanted to move out there but due to school commitments with our youngest we have stayed closer to the school. We decided to share our beautiful space with people so they can have a quiet, beautiful farm stay where they can pick organic fruits and veg from our gardens and visit with our rescue animals.
