About your local community
Ballara is located in the small agricultural town of Warooka on Southern Yorke Peninsula in South Australia. If you take a look at the shape of Yorke Peninsula it is the only leg Australia has to stand on!
Now affectionately called 'Yorkes', it is mostly known for beaches, rugged coast, fishing and farming.
With a population of approx. 200, Warooka services the wider agricultural community with a variety of supplies. There are actually many businesses in Warooka as the towns to the west, Point Turton, Corny Point and Marion Bay are mainly holiday destinations.
As we are surrounded by the sea there is also a substantial fishing (including crayfish) industry with fresh seafood available to purchase nearby.
As the owner, what is your favourite thing to do at this property?
Just being at Ballara is an inspiration and I very much enjoy showing people through and sharing our family history.
As the owner, what is your favourite day trip from this property?
With so many beaches a short distance from Ballara it's difficult to choose just one! Particular favourites are Flaherty's Beach, Magazine Bay, Waldmann's Beach, Burner's Beach & Sturt Bay all less than 15 minutes drive. Further afield to Corny Point lighthouse, Berry Bay, and Daly Head for spectacular scenery & long white sandy beaches.
Of course the renowned Innes National Park is a must and needs at least a full day to explore. With an interest in photography, particularly local scenery, driving long lesser known back roads through farmland that changes colours with the seasons is also a favourite thing to do.
Guests shouldn't forget to pack their...
Anything you enjoy taking to the beach!
Artists, photographers, writers should not forget their 'tools'!!
